Telemedicine consent
Last updated: 26 October 2026
Online consultations with Lean Life doctors are provided under the Telemedicine Practice Guidelines, 2020. Please read this before your consultation. By booking and joining an online consultation, you confirm that you agree to it.
What an online consultation is
A consultation with a registered medical practitioner by video, audio call or chat. The doctor will confirm your identity and age, take your history and review any reports you share.
Its limits
- The doctor cannot examine you physically, so may ask for tests or an in-person visit before giving advice or prescribing.
- The doctor may decide that an online consultation is not suitable for you.
- A prescription is issued only if the doctor considers it clinically appropriate.
- Poor connections or technical problems may affect the consultation. If that happens, it will be rescheduled.
What you confirm
- You are 18 or older, and the person named in the booking.
- The information you give about your health and medicines is complete and accurate.
- You are in a private place where you are comfortable discussing your health.
- You will not record the consultation without the doctor's permission.
- Lean Life records consultations only if you give separate consent before the call. You can say no and still have your consultation.
Records and privacy
The doctor will keep a record of your consultation, any reports you share and any prescription issued, as the law requires. Your information is handled as set out in our privacy policy.
Emergencies
Online consultations are not for emergencies. If you have severe symptoms, call 112 or go to the nearest hospital.
Withdrawing consent
You can withdraw consent and end an online consultation at any time, and ask for an in-person appointment instead.
