Weekly medicines such as Mounjaro (tirzepatide) and Wegovy (semaglutide) can make weight loss far more achievable for the right person. At Lean Life they are prescribed only after a medical assessment, started at a low dose and monitored at every step.
Medically reviewed and approved by Dr Reina Punj, MBBS, PG Diploma in Endocrinology (UK), Lead Physician. Approved on 24 October 2026.

GLP-1 is a hormone your gut releases after you eat. GLP-1 medicines copy it: they reduce appetite, help you feel full sooner and slow how quickly your stomach empties. Tirzepatide also acts on a second gut hormone, GIP. Both are injected once a week with a small pen.
In December 2025, the World Health Organization issued its first guideline on GLP-1 medicines for obesity, recommending them for adults alongside diet and activity support, prescribed by qualified professionals.

GLP-1 medicines are usually considered for adults with a BMI of 30 or more, or 27 or more with a weight-related condition such as prediabetes, high blood pressure or sleep apnoea. Doctors in India also weigh lower Asian cut-offs, because health risks start at lower weights.
They are not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or for people with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or MEN 2 syndrome. A past episode of pancreatitis needs careful review. Your doctor checks all of this at your assessment.

At your goal
Many people regain weight after stopping without a plan, so we step down with you.
The most common are digestive: nausea, constipation, diarrhoea and feeling full quickly, usually in the first weeks and after a dose increase. Starting low and eating smaller meals helps.
Rare but serious problems include pancreatitis and gallbladder trouble. Severe, lasting pain in the upper belly needs urgent medical attention. Your doctor will explain what to watch for and how to reach the clinic.
In trials tirzepatide led to more weight loss on average, but semaglutide costs less, especially as a generic. Your doctor recommends one based on your health, budget and goals.
It varies. Most plans run for several months, followed by a supervised step-down and maintenance.
Yes. Assessment and follow-ups can be online, with tests arranged near you or at our Nariman Point clinic.
Fast weight loss can include muscle. That is why we set a protein target and track muscle with InBody throughout.
