What Mounjaro 7.5 mg is for

7.5 mg is a step-up dose: it sits between the treatment doses and is used for at least four weeks on the way up. Moving up in 2.5 mg steps gives your body time to adjust, which helps with nausea and other stomach side effects.

Weight loss at 7.5 mg

7.5 mg was not studied as a long-term dose in the main weight-loss trial, because it is a stepping stone. Weight loss usually starts in the first weeks and builds as the dose goes up. Your doctor and dietitian look at your InBody results, not just the scale, to judge how you're doing.

Side effects at this stage

Stomach side effects such as nausea, diarrhoea, constipation and reduced appetite are most likely in the weeks after starting or moving up a dose. They are usually mild to moderate and settle as your body adjusts.

  • Eat smaller meals and stop when you feel full.
  • Choose plain, protein-rich food and drink plenty of fluids.
  • Tell your doctor if vomiting or diarrhoea doesn't settle, or you can't keep fluids down.
  • Get urgent help for severe stomach pain that spreads to your back, which can be a sign of pancreatitis.

Missed a dose?

If it's been 4 days (96 hours) or less since you missed it, take it as soon as you remember. If it's been more than 4 days, skip it and take the next one on your usual day. Never take two doses within 3 days of each other. Our missed-dose checker works it out for you.

Storing your pen

Keep unopened pens in the fridge (2°C to 8°C), never in the freezer. Once you've started a pen, it can be kept at up to 30°C for up to 30 days, then thrown away even if a dose is left. In an Indian summer, keep it in the fridge or a cool bag rather than in a car or bag in the sun.

Getting Mounjaro 7.5 mg safely

  • Buy only with a prescription, from a licensed pharmacy. Never from social media sellers, gyms or salons.
  • Check the pack is sealed, the batch number and expiry date are printed clearly, and the price is not far below MRP.
  • Pens should arrive cold, in insulated packaging.
  • If anything looks wrong, don't inject it. Show it to your pharmacist or doctor.
At Lean Life an advisor answers your questions first, free. If you go ahead, a Lean Life doctor assesses you, decides whether tirzepatide is right for you, sets your dose and reviews you regularly with InBody scans and a dietitian. We don't sell medicines online.
