Key points
- Obeda is semaglutide made by Dr Reddy's, launched in India in March 2026.
- At launch it was approved for type 2 diabetes, not for weight management.
- It cost about ₹4,200 a month at launch, for the 2 mg and 4 mg pens.
- For weight loss, your doctor will usually choose a product approved for weight management.
What Obeda is
Obeda is a once-weekly semaglutide injection from Dr Reddy's Laboratories, approved by India's drug regulator (DCGI) and launched in March 2026, as soon as the semaglutide patent expired. It comes as a multi-dose pre-filled pen, in 2 mg and 4 mg pens.
Is Obeda for weight loss?
At launch, Obeda was approved for type 2 diabetes, and Dr Reddy's said it was seeking approval for weight management. That matters: a product approved only for diabetes isn't licensed for weight loss, even though the active medicine is the same as Wegovy. If you have type 2 diabetes and extra weight, your doctor may consider it. If you're looking for weight-loss treatment without diabetes, your doctor will usually choose a product approved for weight management.
Obeda price in India
At launch, Dr Reddy's priced Obeda at about ₹4,200 a month for both the 2 mg and 4 mg pens. Prices across semaglutide brands have changed since, so check the current MRP.

Lean Life does not sell medicines online: any medicine is prescribed only after a consultation with a Lean Life doctor, and dispensed by a licensed pharmacy.

Getting Obeda safely
- Buy only with a prescription, from a licensed pharmacy. Never from social media sellers, gyms or salons.
- Check the pack is sealed, the batch number and expiry date are printed clearly, and the price is not far below MRP.
- Pens should arrive cold, in insulated packaging.
- If anything looks wrong, don't inject it. Show it to your pharmacist or doctor.
