What Poviztra is
Poviztra is a once-weekly semaglutide injection for obesity and weight management. Emcure Pharmaceuticals describes it as a second brand of Novo Nordisk's semaglutide, and Emcure is the first Indian company to distribute and sell it. Because it comes from the original manufacturer, it is not a generic.
Poviztra price in India
Emcure cut Poviztra's prices from 3 April 2026. The starting dose fell by 55%, to ₹3,999 a month (about ₹999 a week).

Poviztra vs Wegovy
Both are Novo Nordisk's semaglutide for weight management, in the same five strengths. The difference is the brand, the distributor and the price: at the maintenance dose of 2.4 mg, Poviztra costs ₹8,999 a month against Wegovy's ₹16,400.

Getting Poviztra safely
- Buy only with a prescription, from a licensed pharmacy. Never from social media sellers, gyms or salons.
- Check the pack is sealed, the batch number and expiry date are printed clearly, and the price is not far below MRP.
- Pens should arrive cold, in insulated packaging.
- If anything looks wrong, don't inject it. Show it to your pharmacist or doctor.
